Crown Lengthening
What Is Crown Lengthening?
Crown lengthening is a procedure that improves the gum tissue's health or prepares the mouth for restorative or cosmetic procedures. Crown lengthening exposes more of the natural tooth by reshaping or recontouring the bone and gum tissue. This treatment can be performed on a single tooth, many teeth, or all of the teeth.
Benefits of Crown Lengthening
- Improve Cosmetics. An individual's smile may be unattractive because of the height or symmetry of the gums surrounding the teeth. This is referred to as a "gummy" smile. Your periodontist can quickly fix this by exposing a pleasant and aesthetically appealing smile!
- Restoration of Damaged Teeth. One or more teeth may have a deep cavity, trauma, or another type of damage that needs preparation before restoration. Your dentist can work closely and collaboratively with your general dentist and prepare one or more teeth for your new restoration!
